Trying to make a choose about my life paths. It’s a given that I’ll need to finish this semester, but what I do after is scary and confusing. I feel like school isn’t catering to my needs as most of the courses are useless to me. I feel like, where I am right now in my abilities, I rather need more time to practice what I’m doing: such as finishing projects like Cloud Drift in completion, rather than wasting valuable time with an expensive nap time school.
One option, I can finish school, get my art degree (which is pretty much useless against a good portfolio), and 3 years from now search for jobs while in the process slow down and eventually quit Ask Frigid Drift or any hope of animation except for during Summer.
Another option, I can slow down on classes by not taking “English” or “History” and instead take a few, slower-paced art classes which I know I’ll gain from, but lose my scholarship (as low as it is) in the process. I’ll have more time to work on the blog and improve my current abilities and get a part time job. I’ll still be “in school” so mom won’t kick me out just yet, and when I feel ready, I can move along with a greater portfolio after a year or so of this.
Last, most extreme option, I can quit school and my dad (who’s agreed to help already) will take me in as I get a job with his friend in web design (most likely as an apprentice). I’ll have tons of time to work on the blog and get paid for learning how to make websites. This option requires me to take up another, possibly full-time, job and pay for my car and food, setting me off into the real world before I’m ready.
TL;DR: (1) Stay in school, (2) Best of both worlds, (3) Move out with a subpar life.
Don’t just choose which is the best choice for me, please instead give me some feedback I can use to decide for myself which I want to do.
alamarus-art answered: 2nd option
krager-vises answered:
truly i can not tell you what to do but by what i see here and knowing your passion for art i would say the second seems the most optimal ktuos answered: I think 2 is the best choice as from what you’ve said it’s better for your future and seems to be a good comprimise for everything you do
zedrin-maybe answered: Web design isn’t half bad, actually. Can be fun, and can still give you time to work on flash/art. Might be worth considering.
